Delete your Knowsy account
You can delete your Knowsy account and the data in it at any time — in the app, or by email if you no longer have it.
In the app
- Open Knowsy and go to Account.
- Tap Delete account.
- Confirm with Delete for good. Your account is deleted straight away, and you are signed out.
Cancel your subscription separately. Deleting your account doesn’t stop a Google Play or App Store subscription. Cancel it in the Play Store (Profile › Payments & subscriptions › Subscriptions) or in your Apple ID’s subscription settings, ideally before you delete your account.
Without the app
If you’ve uninstalled Knowsy or can’t sign in, email support@oddhatch.com from the email address on your account, with the subject “Delete my Knowsy account”. If you signed in with a phone number, include it. We may ask you to confirm the request from that address so nobody else can delete your account. We’ll delete it within 30 days, normally much sooner, and reply when it’s done.
Want only some of your data deleted rather than the whole account? Most of it — pantry items, receipts, recipes, cookbooks, shopping lists, and your allergies and food rules — you can delete yourself in the app. For anything else, email us and say what you’d like removed.
What is deleted
- Your account: email address, name, sign-in details and settings.
- A kitchen only you use, with everything in it: pantry, receipts and spending history, saved recipes and cookbooks, shopping lists, leftovers and cooking history.
- Your allergies, food rules and food preferences.
- Your usage counters, recipe problem reports and other records linked to your account.
- Your subscription record at our subscription provider (RevenueCat).
- Usage statistics you agreed to share, linked to your account at our analytics provider (PostHog).
- On the phone you delete from: the app’s saved copy of your kitchen, recipe cover images and scheduled reminders.
What is kept, and for how long
| What | Why and how long |
|---|---|
| A kitchen you share with others | It belongs to everyone in it, so it stays with the other members, including what you added. Only your membership and your personal data are removed. If you owned it, the member who joined first becomes the owner. |
| Store purchase records | Google Play or Apple keep records of what you bought under their own policies; we can’t delete these. |
| Anonymous error reports | Crash and error reports that were never linked to your account. Kept up to 12 months, then deleted. |
| Backups and logs | Deleted data can remain in encrypted backups and server logs for up to 30 days before it is overwritten. |
| Shared food-word cache | Translations of food names (like “tomato”) are shared by everyone and never say who asked; they aren’t personal data. |
Photos you asked Knowsy to read were never stored after reading, so there is nothing to delete.
