Knowsy
Terms of use
These terms are an agreement between you and oddhatch (“we”, “us”), the studio that makes the Knowsy app. By creating an account or using Knowsy you accept them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the app. Our privacy policy explains how we handle your data.
Important about food. Knowsy is a helper, not a food-safety or medical tool. Use-by dates in the app are estimates, AI can misread receipts and recipes, and allergy and food-rule filters depend on recipe data that may be incomplete. Always check product labels, ingredients and the food itself, especially when cooking for someone with an allergy.
1. Who can use Knowsy
You must be at least 16 years old, or the age of digital consent where you live if that is higher, and able to enter into this agreement. You need an account to use Knowsy. Keep your sign-in details safe and tell us at support@oddhatch.com if you think someone else has used your account. An account is for one person and is signed in on one phone at a time; signing in on a new phone signs the old one out.
2. Subscriptions and the free trial
- Knowsy’s features need a paid subscription (Pro or Family), or a free seat in someone else’s kitchen as a Guest. What each plan includes and its price are shown in the app and in the store before you buy.
- Subscriptions are sold by Google Play or the Apple App Store, which take payment under their own terms. Where a free trial is offered, you won’t be charged until it ends.
- Subscriptions renew automatically for the same period (monthly or yearly) unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Cancel any time in your Google Play or App Store subscription settings; you keep access until the period ends. Deleting the app or your account does not cancel a store subscription.
- Refunds are handled by the store you paid, under its refund policy. This does not affect any rights you have by law, such as a statutory right to withdraw where it applies.
- If we change a price, the store will tell you in advance and, where required, ask for your agreement; a launch price you subscribed at stays yours for as long as your subscription continues without a break.
- To keep Knowsy affordable, features that rely on paid services (scanning, importing, recipe search) have fair daily and monthly limits. The app tells you when you reach one.
3. Shared kitchens
A subscriber can invite up to two people to their kitchen with an invite code. Everyone in a kitchen can see and change what’s in it — pantry, recipes, shopping list and receipts — and sees the other members’ names and, if they chose to store them, their allergies and food rules. Only share codes with people you trust. The kitchen’s owner can remove members. If the owner leaves or deletes their account, the member who has been in the kitchen longest becomes its owner. Guests’ access depends on the owner’s subscription.
4. Your content
What you put into Knowsy — photos, receipts, pantry items, recipes, notes — stays yours. You give us the permission we need to store it, process it (including with the service providers in our privacy policy) and show it to you and your kitchen, only to run the app for you. You are responsible for having the right to use what you upload.
5. Recipes from other sources
Knowsy can save a recipe from a social-media post or a website you choose. Those recipes, and any images, belong to their creators. Knowsy keeps them for your own, personal, non-commercial use in your kitchen and links back to where they came from; cover images are kept only on your phone. Don’t use Knowsy to republish or sell other people’s recipes. Recipes from our recipe library are provided by a third-party service and are also for personal use.
6. AI and accuracy
Knowsy uses AI to read receipts, products, dishes and recipes, and to translate food names. AI can make mistakes: wrong items, amounts, prices or steps. That’s why you can review and correct what it reads before saving. Use-by dates, “you can cook it now” notices, spending totals and exchange rates are estimates to help you, not guarantees. Nutrition, allergen and dietary information may be incomplete or wrong.
7. Acceptable use
Please don’t: break the law with Knowsy; try to access other people’s kitchens or accounts; guess invite codes; get around fair-use limits or the subscription; copy, scrape, reverse-engineer or resell the app or its recipe data; upload anything illegal, harmful or that you don’t have the right to share; or interfere with the service or its providers. We may suspend or close accounts that do, after warning you where reasonable.
8. Our app
Knowsy, its design, text, illustrations and code belong to oddhatch or its licensors. We give you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the app on your own devices while your account is active, in line with these terms and the store’s terms. The app stores’ standard terms also apply; Apple and Google are not responsible for Knowsy or its support.
9. Changes and availability
We keep improving Knowsy, so features may change. We aim to keep it available but can’t promise it will always be uninterrupted or error-free; it depends on the internet and on third-party services. If we ever stop offering Knowsy, we will give you reasonable notice and a way to get your data out, and handle unused paid time as the store’s rules and the law require.
10. Ending your account
You can stop using Knowsy and delete your account at any time — see how to delete your account. Remember to cancel your store subscription separately. We may end or suspend your account for a serious or repeated breach of these terms, or if the law requires it.
11. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or your rights as a consumer. Otherwise, to the extent the law allows: Knowsy is provided “as is”; we are not responsible for decisions you make based on information in the app (such as what to eat, buy or throw away), for loss that was not foreseeable, or for business losses; and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid for Knowsy in the 12 months before the claim.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change matters, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. If you keep using Knowsy afterwards, the new terms apply; if you don’t accept them, you can delete your account.
13. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of the country where oddhatch is established. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live and can bring a claim in your local courts. Please contact us first — most problems are easier to fix by email.
